Ombre is everywhere at the moment. Hair, clothes, and why not nails? This is surprisingly easy to do; all you need is:
A cosmetic sponge
Newspaper
Nail polish remover
Cotton buds
Three colours of nail polish, in different shades of the same colour, plus a clear top coat. I used Ulta3, because it is surprisingly excellent for $2 a bottle.
1. Paint your entire nail with the lightest of your three colours, and allow to dry.
2. Tip a little of your middle shade of polish onto the newspaper, and dab the sponge into it. Blot the sponge on the paper, then dab onto the top two-thirds of the nail. Do this for all ten fingers, then allow to dry.
3. Use the same process with the darkest shade, sponging only the top third of the nail. Again, allow to dry, and finish with a clear top coat.
4. Clean up the edges with a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover.
